The ballet (although not this version) ends with Odette and her prince throwing themselves off a cliff, but this is not strictly speaking suicide, it is rather, the couple giving their whole souls, their all, even unto death. In doing so they gain the victory. Their war brings in the peace given to her maiden and the vanquishing of Rothbarth. It seems to me the music tells us all this.
